Editorial Guidelines
- Use proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation. All posts should be spell checked prior to publishing.
- Don't forget the funny!
- When using the letter format, do not use the greeting as the title of the post. Use all three parts of a letter (greeting, message, closing) and put them all in the body of the post.
- Always categorize your posts. You can use multiple categories, but try to use no more than three.
- You should respond to most comments on your posts. It helps retain readers.
- Links should only be used to enhance your post.
- Do not use cutesy nicknames to refer to people in your life, assuming that everyone knows to whom you are referring, unless you include sufficient description.
- No cross-posting. [Cross-posting is posting the same exact post on two different blogs.]
- Posts should get your point across in a concise manner. Readers lose interest in a post longer than a few sentences.
- Peeves of Yore should include each Peever at least a few times; variety is good, including the weekly topics.
- Keep the swear words to a minimum. Some readers could potentially be turned off by this.
- When there is an unknown peever post, everyone else needs to comment unknown as well so as not to out the peever.
- Titles of posts should be formatted in the following: When it is a complete sentence, only capitalize the first word and use punctuation. (Example: Why did I eat that burrito?) When it’s not a sentence, capitalize the first letter of each word. (Taco Butt Hell!)
Membership Guidelines
- Post at least one Peeve bi-weekly. (That's every other week.) However, this is the bare minimum. To show more flair, post at least once per week. There is no maximum on the number of Peeves you may post. Lucky you!
- Promote your Peeves to the extent at which you are comfortable. Examples: link to them on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, and any other social network to which you belong; link to The Peevery from your own website or page.
- Participate in all Peevery challenges put forth by management.
