When in our society did people go from being dog and cat owners to "pet parents?" I know that people dress up their pets like children, but aren't those people still deemed as slightly nutty?
Yes, I understand that you love your pet, but you are not their parent nor are they your children. Unless you actually did give birth to a rottweiler and/or have legal adoption papers on file with the county recorder showing that you are the legal guardian of the the tabby in your living room, you are an owner not a parent.
